From 2–8 March 2026, the Global Days of Action on Tax Justice for Women’s Rights marked its 10th anniversary with a powerful call for “Tax Justice for the Human Right to Care.” Campaigners, women’s rights organizations, grassroots movements, trade unions, and civil society groups from around the world united to demand the recognition of care as a human right and a public good. The campaign also called for the fair allocation of taxing rights to advance global and gender justice, increased public financing for care through progressive and redistributive taxation, taxation of the wealthy and multinational corporations, the delivery of a feminist UN Tax Convention, and an end to tax secrecy.

On 2 March 2026, SAAPE, as a member of the Tax and Gender Working Group of Tax and Fiscal Justice Asia (TaFJA) and a regional network member of the Global Alliance for Tax Justice (GATJ), joined the global campaign launch through a discussion on the interlinkages between tax justice, gender equality, and the human right to care. Representing Asia, Reshma Shakya from SAAPE participated as a panelist in the opening session alongside speakers from Latin America and Africa. The discussion provided valuable insights into care systems, public financing, and the role of international tax systems in promoting gender equality through fair and equitable tax rules.
Throughout the week, SAAPE actively amplified the campaign’s key messages and shared demands through its networks and platforms. It reaffirmed its commitment to advancing care-centered and feminist fiscal policies. The global mobilization highlighted the urgent need to transform fiscal systems to ensure gender equality, social justice, and the realization of the human right to care for all.
