SAAPE’S ENGAGEMENT IN THE GLOBAL CIVIL SOCIETY MOBILISATION DURING THE IMF–WORLD BANK ANNUAL MEETINGS
On 15 October 2026, as global attention turned to the challenges facing climate-vulnerable nations, the event featured the high-level dialogue “Parliamentary Leadership for Development and Delivery in a Multipolar World: From Vulnerability to Viability: Enabling Finance, Resilience and Climate Prosperity,” convened by the Climate Vulnerable Forum–Vulnerable Twenty (CVF–V20) Global Parliamentary Group. Bringing together parliamentarians, policymakers and development partners, the dialogue focused on strengthening parliamentary leadership to mobilise development finance, advance climate resilience, accelerate climate action and enhance accountability in pursuit of sustainable and climate-resilient development.

At the CVF–V20 Global Parliamentary Group dialogue on climate finance, Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki, Member of Parliament and Founder of SAAPE, called for predictable, adequate and grant-based climate finance for vulnerable countries. Referring to the devastating Bhote Koshi–Trishuli floods, he stressed that climate finance should be viewed as a matter of climate justice rather than charity and highlighted the need for stronger parliamentary oversight and inclusive participation in climate finance decisions.
Similarly, at the regional forum on just energy transitions, Dr. Karki and Ms. Tuka Bhadra Hamal, Member of Parliament and representative of SAAPE member organisation All Nepal Women’s Association (ANWA), shared Nepal’s perspectives on achieving a rapid, equitable and people-centred transition to renewable energy. They emphasized the importance of aligning energy transition policies with development priorities, climate resilience and social justice while ensuring meaningful community participation.
